What's the role?
The Platform Product Owner Lead will be responsible for owning and managing the Azure Data Platform capability end‑to‑end, including ingestion, processing, storage, analytics and consumption layers. They will drive the platform roadmap, lead ETL/ELT framework enhancements, oversee PoCs, and ensure reliability, performance, security and governance standards such as Purview. The role also includes overseeing networking and connectivity components, AI/ML integration, and leading data loading, migration and Hadoop transformation programs.
In addition, this role will oversee the translation of business and technical requirements into scalable designs, delivery plans and clear milestones while managing risks, progress and stakeholder communication. They will manage resource allocation, vendor engagement, budget ownership and platform cost optimisation. The role also provides technical leadership, ensuring engineering best practices, code quality, automation and alignment with Architecture, Security, Governance and Operations teams.
What do I need?
* Agile and 3 year+ program management experience.
* Extensive experience owning and delivering Azure-based data platforms end-to-end.
* Hands-on and architectural experience with Snowflake and Databricks.
* Strong experience with Python-based data engineering frameworks for ingestion, transformation, and pipeline automation.
* Proficiency with Azure services including ADLS, Synapse, CosmosDB, Event Hub, Application Gateway, Networking/PLS, AML, Purview, and SQL engines.
* Solid experience with ETL/ELT tools, automation frameworks, and reusable data engineering patterns.
* Proven experience driving data migrations, including Hadoop ecosystem migrations and legacy-to-cloud modernization.
* Deep knowledge of RDBMS platforms such as Teradata, Oracle, and SQL Server.
* Experience in team leadership, resource management, vendor management, and budget planning.
* Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills.
* Familiarity with data governance, security, compliance, and enterprise standards.
* Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration across business, architecture, and delivery teams.
