Position Purpose


Taqwa School is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated teachers to join our growing school community. We are recruiting for multiple teaching positions across Primary and Secondary year levels, as well as Casual Relief Teachers to support the day-to-day operations of the school. Successful candidates will be committed to fostering engaging, inclusive, and challenging learning environments that support the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of students.

Key Responsibilities



Teaching & Learning

* Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum (ongoing staff).
* For Casual Relief Teachers: deliver set work provided and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
* Differentiate teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs and abilities.
* Foster a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
* Integrate digital technologies to enhance student learning.


Assessment & Reporting

* Assess student achievement using a range of methods (ongoing staff).
* Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
* Contribute to the preparation of formal student reports and parent-teacher interviews.


Wellbeing & Engagement

* Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
* Promote student wellbeing and positive behaviour through proactive classroom management.
* Support co-curricular and extra-curricular school programs, including camps, excursions, and events.


Professional Practice & Collegiality

* Participate in faculty and whole-school meetings, planning, and professional learning (ongoing staff).
* For Casual Relief Teachers: engage with colleagues to ensure smooth handover and continuity of learning.
* Maintain professional and ethical standards consistent with Taqwa School's values and expectations.

Position-specific Responsibilities

* Primary Teacher: Deliver integrated curriculum across key learning areas, with a focus on literacy and numeracy foundations.
* Secondary – Science: Teach across junior and/or senior science, with specialist expertise in areas such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics desirable.
* Secondary – HASS: Deliver engaging lessons in History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship, and Economics.
* Secondary – English: Teach English across a range of year levels, supporting strong literacy and analytical skills.
* Secondary – Technology: Teach Design and Digital Technologies, with an emphasis on practical, project-based learning.
* Secondary – Physical Education (PE): Deliver the PE curriculum, promote health and wellbeing, and support school sporting programs and carnivals.
* Casual Relief Teachers: Provide high-quality short-term teaching across primary and/or secondary year levels, ensuring classroom continuity and a supportive learning environment.

Selection Criteria



Essential

* Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications.
* Current registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI).
* Current Working with Vulnerable People Card(WWVP) .
* Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum in relevant subject areas.
* Strong organisational and classroom management skills.
* Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and parents.
* Commitment to child safety and compliance with legislative and school policies.


Desirable

* Experience in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities (e.g., coaching, debating, school events).
* Accreditation in First Aid and CPR (particularly for PE teachers).
* Ability to teach across multiple subject areas.
* Familiarity with learning management systems and digital teaching tools.

Conditions of Employment

* Employment is subject to a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People Card (WWVP) and teacher registration with TQI.
* Casual Relief Teachers must be available on short notice and demonstrate flexibility across year levels and subject areas.
* Some roles may require involvement in after-school activities, excursions, and school events.
* Classification and remuneration will be in accordance with the ACT teaching awards and agreements.
