We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Child Welfare Professional to join our team. As an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and families.
Job Description
This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires empathy, cultural sensitivity, and strong communication skills. You will be working closely with parents, family members, children, and young people to provide support and guidance in addressing complex issues such as child abuse and neglect.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Conducting home visits and assessments to identify risk factors and develop safety plans;
* Collaborating with other agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support for families;
* Providing education and training on child protection and wellbeing;
* Documenting and reporting incidents and progress; and
* Participating in court processes and advocating for children's rights.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A relevant diploma or degree in social work, welfare, or a related field;
* At least two years' experience working in child protection or a related field;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
* A valid driver's license and a paid working with children clearance number;
* Documented verification of Aboriginality (if applicable); and
* The ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
