Structural Steel Draftsperson / CAD Technician (Site & Workshop Variety)
BWA Engineering is a Mackay-based steel fabrication and engineering company delivering high-quality work across mining, industrial and local projects.
We are looking for a Draftsperson / CAD Technician to join our team. This is primarily a drafting role, with the option to get involved in site survey work, 3D scanning, CNC machinery and workshop activities if desired.
This role offers excellent variety and flexibility, and would suit someone who enjoys both office-based work and hands-on involvement.
Salary negotiable based on experience.
About the Role
Your core responsibilities will include:
* Preparing structural steel workshop drawings
* Using AutoCAD and/or Advance Steel
* Site measuring and 3D scanning
* Liaising with workshop and site teams
* Assisting with project coordination
There is also the opportunity (optional) to get involved in:
* CNC machinery operation (plasma, cutting, etc.)
* 3D modelling for 3D printing and prototyping
* Client interaction and estimating
* QA documentation and project support
About You
We are open to a range of experience levels. Ideally, you will have:
* Experience with AutoCAD and/or Advance Steel (preferred)
* CAD or drafting experience (structural steel highly regarded)
* Strong attention to detail
* Good communication skills
* A willingness to learn and get involved in different aspects of the business
* A trade background or hands-on fabrication experience is highly regarded but not essential.
