Charters Towers State High School is seeking an experienced Head of Department (Secondary), Teaching and Learning, to join our leadership team on a temporary full-time basis, for a period of 6 months, unless otherwise determined.
In this role, you will support teachers to review and improve curriculum and pedagogy in line with school and departmental initiatives, develop the quality of teaching and learning across the school and nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

Located on Gudjal country, in the heart of the historic gold-mining town, Charters Towers State High School has been proudly serving our rural community for over 100 years. A school of approximately 350 students, we work together to prepare students for the exciting, challenging and rapidly changing future in which they will live and work. In enacting our vision, we strike a balance between preserving proud traditions and instilling important values as we deliver an innovative and responsive curriculum. Diverse learning pathways are enhanced by our extra-curricular offerings and wellbeing programs. The Dalrymple Trade Training Centre and Agricultural Farm offer a unique learning experience for our students to complement courses offered on campus. Subsidized departmental accommodation is available.
About The Role
The key responsibilities for this role include:

* Provide coaching for beginning teachers and manage the probation teacher program.
* Coordinate the Flexi School and support junior students to re-engage with mainstream education.
* Lead staff to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
