Principal Planning Officer, Primary Industries
As our Principal Planning Officer, you will be responsible for strategic and operational planning, leadership and management of a team to deliver planning outcomes to manage State-owned forest products (under the provisions of the Forestry Act ****)
This role will contribute to the development of the business through planning efficiencies to grow capability to deliver an effective timber sales program and satisfy all relevant natural resource management, environmental, cultural heritage, land management, planning and other legislative and policy requirements.
Providing strategic and operational planning advice to program leaders on forestry matters and the analysis and development of recommendations for solving complex forestry planning matters.
Providing timely comment on policy and estate management issues, preparing and reviewing departmental policy papers, submissions, reports and briefing notes.
Developing collaborative and productive working relationships with stakeholders and lead and manage individual contributors and projects to deliver timely, including resources, budgets and contracts; managing risks associated with harvesting and marketing of native timber and forest products, including forest protection; providing timely comment on policy and estate management issues; providing training and applying change management principles for the successful adoption of new systems, policies and procedures and directing and monitoring effective, cost-efficient implementation of planning programs.
Contributing to the monitoring and audit function for forest harvesting operations and providing analyses of spatial information to enhance operations and business objectives.
