The Head Gardener works with the Grounds Coordinator to ensure proactive and professional maintenance of College gardens and grounds and the equipment required to maintain the gardens and grounds.
This position is a member of the Grounds team within the Property and Services (P&S) department and reports to the Grounds Coordinator.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintenance and upkeep of gardens to a very high standard.
- Supervision and tasking of the gardener.
- Plan, landscape and maintain garden beds including watering, pruning, trimming, hedging, weeding, mulching, fertilising, planting and replacing gardens and lawns as required.
- Identify any issues with gardens, lawns or trees and report them to the Grounds coordinator.
**Mandatory Requirements**
- Certificate 3 in Horticulture or higher.
- Minimum 5 years gardening experience.
- Minimum 1 year as team leader.
- Licensed commercial operator under the ACDC act.
- Manual drivers licence.
- Chainsaw operators licence.
- Bobcat competency.
- Experience with roses.
