Business Analyst – 6‐month contract – ASAP start

About the Role
We're partnering with a large Queensland organisation embarking on a significant Pay Integrity uplift. This program is focused on strengthening payroll accuracy, compliance, governance and assurance across key people and pay processes.
You'll play a central role in redesigning business processes, uplifting system controls, and supporting the delivery of multiple Power Platform applications and integrations. This is a highly collaborative role working across HR, Payroll, Finance, Governance, Digital teams and an external delivery partner to ensure solutions are accurate, auditable and aligned to organisational standards.
This is a hands‐on BA role suited to someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys structured analysis, and can bridge business, technical and governance perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead structured engagement with HR, Payroll, Finance, Governance and technical teams to elicit and analyse requirements related to pay integrity, compliance, reporting and assurance.
* Translate business needs into clear, testable functional and non‐functional requirements for Power Platform applications, workflows, integrations and reporting.
* Develop high‐quality BA artefacts including user stories, acceptance criteria, process models, data definitions, security requirements and configuration specifications.
* Support the design and implementation of role‐based access controls, data security, privacy and audit requirements.
* Work closely with architects, developers and testers to validate solutions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
* Support system, integration and user acceptance testing, including defect triage and resolution.
* Contribute to go‐live readiness activities including requirements traceability, documentation, stakeholder preparation and transition planning.
* Provide ongoing analysis and support through delivery, go‐live and early hypercare.
Skills & Experience Needed
* Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst delivering complex business or digital solutions within HR, payroll, finance or compliance‐driven environments.
* Strong capability in requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation (user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability).
* Experience working with or alongside low‐code platforms such as Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.
* Solid process modelling skills with the ability to produce clear, fit‐for‐purpose process and data artefacts.
* Experience defining or supporting security, access control, privacy and audit requirements.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to bridge business, technical and vendor teams.
* High‐level analytical and problem‐solving capability.
* Experience using JIRA and Confluence for requirements and delivery management.
Bonus Points For
* Prior experience in payroll compliance, pay integrity uplift, or HR/payroll process redesign.
* Exposure to governance‐heavy environments or audit remediation projects.
* Experience supporting multi‐application Power Platform delivery.
* Background working in large, complex or public‐sector organisations.
