UKG Functional Consultant for HR, Payroll, and Workforce Management

You will support a well‑established organisation operating in a heavy‑industry, operational environment, where workforce availability, payroll accuracy, and compliance are critical. The business is transforming its HR, payroll, and workforce systems to support a distributed, shift‑based workforce, with a strong focus on safety, governance, and operational continuity.
Your new role
As a UKG Functional Consultant, you will act as an independent functional authority across the UKG implementation. Sitting between the internal client team and the UKG delivery partner, your role will focus on validating solution design, configuration, and delivery approaches to ensure alignment with business requirements, industry best practice, and compliance obligations. You will provide objective assurance across all implementation phases (design, build, test, and deploy), while also playing a key role in educating and upskilling client teams to build long‑term ownership of the UKG platform. Key responsibilities include: Providing independent review and validation of UKG functional design and configuration. Challenging and assuring the implementation of artefacts, processes, and methodologies; Acting as a functional escalation point for complex HR, Payroll, and Workforce Management decisions; Ensuring HR and payroll processes are clearly defined, compliant, and operationally sustainable; Supporting and validating SIT and UAT activities Providing functional assurance for go‑live readiness and transition to BAU Acting as a trusted intermediary between the client and the UKG implementation team
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience as a UKG Functional Consultant. Strong functional knowledge of Core HR, Payroll, and Time & Attendance / Workforce Management; demonstrated experience providing independent assurance or validation on third‑party implementations; deep understanding of HRIS data models, business rules, and payroll compliance; strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to challenge constructively Experience reviewing functional designs, configuration workbooks, and test artefacts The ability to translate technical or vendor‑led discussions into clear, business‑focused guidance Availability to work Brisbane‑based with 3+ days onsite per week.
