Group Claims Consultant - Australian Retirement Trust
As a Group Claims Consultant for Australian Retirement Trust (ART), you'll be part of a dedicated team supporting one of Australia's largest and most respected super funds. You will work side by side in a genuine partnership built on trust, transparency, and shared outcomes. This isn't arm's length claims handling – it's a collaborative relationship where your judgement, professionalism, and member‐first mindset directly influence the experience ART members receive.
In this role, you will manage and assess Life Risk Disability (Group) claims, delivering fair, timely outcomes that protect and support ART members' wellbeing. You'll interpret medical and allied health reports, apply knowledge of the Life Insurance Act and relevant codes, and maintain strong relationships with employers, trustees, brokers, treating practitioners, and rehabilitation providers.
Reporting to the claims team manager, you will work within a collaborative, customer‐centric environment to meet SLA targets, drive continuous improvement, and appropriately escalated complex cases with sound judgment and compliance.
Qualifications
* Experience managing end‐to‐end life insurance claims. Income Protection and Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) experience advantageous.
* Proven ability to interpret clinical, allied health and medico‐legal reports and incorporate medical, vocational and policy considerations into decisions.
* Experience working with rehabilitation providers and designing/implementing return‐to‐work plans or vocational assessments.
* Strong stakeholder management experience with employers, trustees, brokers, treating practitioners and external service providers.
* Track record of meeting SLAs, quality standards and regulatory requirements in claims handling.
* Experience preparing clear written determinations and sensitive customer communications with an empathetic tone.
* Familiarity with relevant legislation and industry codes including LICOP (Life Insurance Code of Practice), PYS (Protecting Your Super) / PMIF (Putting Members' Interests First), and Transfer Terms.
* Competence using claims management systems, case management tools and MS Office; experience with data analysis/Power BI or Excel for reporting is advantageous.
