About the Program
The Universal Aftercare service is a peer‐led, non‐clinical support service focused on providing psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide.
About the Opportunity
The purpose of a Peer Worker is not about therapy or having to talk about suicide; it is about connecting with someone who has shared experience of suicidality and the recovery journey. The role focuses on empowering people by providing compassion, guidance, encouragement, motivation and follow‐up. Peer Workers support individuals to develop skills, confidence and knowledge to improve their wellbeing and community connections, encourage them to engage actively with their care team, and at other times sit and listen to their concerns, joys and experiences.
