The Solution Architect is a pre‐sales role responsible for engaging directly with Optus customers to design and deliver solutions within a defined technology domain. Operating in a converged ICT environment, the role focuses on understanding customer and prospect business needs and translating them into effective, value‐driven solutions.
This role is critical to the sales engagement process, driving strong customer experiences and commercial outcomes through sound technical expertise. The Solution Architect develops single‐tower solutions aligned to customer requirements and environments, while building deep knowledge of Optus products, services, and standardised design and quoting tools.
Our ideal candidate is a Solution Architect at the earlier part of their career (approximately 2–3 years), bringing hands‐on expertise in Networking, including routing, access switching and voice solutions. Experience with collaboration technologies such as Webex is highly desirable, along with the ability to collaborate closely with Consulting Architects, the broader sales team and vendors to support solution responses and account planning activities.
What You Will Do
* Analyse customer requirements and design standardised, single‐tower solutions, with a strong focus on Enterprise Managed Network Services (MNS) and ICT environments.
* Apply deep domain knowledge across Networking, including routing, access switching and voice, leveraging Cisco, HPE/Aruba, Juniper, or equivalent vendor technologies.
* Support pre‐sales activities by partnering with Sales to deliver technical demonstrations, presentations, and solution narratives aligned to the RAIN sales methodology.
* Develop clear customer value propositions, including CVP and ROI, to articulate the business and technical relevance of proposed solutions.
* Maintain up‐to‐date knowledge of networking technologies, industry trends, and competitor offerings to enable effective customer and stakeholder conversations.
* Collaborate closely with Sales, Delivery, Product teams, and vendors to develop and validate accurate solution documentation, quotes, and smooth handover into delivery.
What makes you perfect for the role
* 2–3 years' experience in a Solution Architect or similar pre‐sales technical design role, ideally within Telco, ICT, or Managed Network Services environments.
* Strong technical background in Network Solutions, with hands‐on experience across enterprise networking technologies and vendor platforms (Cisco, HPE/Aruba, Juniper, or equivalent).
* Tertiary qualification in IT, Engineering, or a related discipline, or relevant industry certifications to support technical expertise.
* Proven consulting, influencing, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical solutions and business value to varied stakeholder audiences.
* Strong analytical, documentation, and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities and collaborate effectively in a matrixed organisation.
