About this role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying complex data solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
You will work on various projects, including building and deploying data lakes and data warehouses on GCP using services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, DataFusion, Pub/Sub, Composer(Airflow), CloudSQL, Cloud Functions and GCS. You will also develop complex code-based ETL/ELT data pipelines with performance optimized data modelling.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement data engineering pipelines using GCP services.
* Develop and maintain high-quality codebase for data engineering projects.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver data engineering solutions.
* Collaborate with project leadership to define scope, align on expectations, manage dependencies, escalate and mitigate risks, and seek timely support.
Requirements:
* Expertise in a broad range of data engineering approaches, covering theoretical best practices and the technical applications of these methods.
* Hands-on experience with GCP and its native development tools.
* Demonstrable experience building and deploying data engineering pipelines into production, including using automation best practices for CI/CD.
* Good level of Python and SQL skills is required. One or more of either Java, Scala or NodeJS is welcome.
* Have previously worked on medium to large scale data engineering projects.
* Experience delivering engagements for clients.
* The ability to engage with senior level stakeholders.
* Previous commercial data experience, ideally across different industries and organisations.
* Can collaborate effectively, not just with your immediate team, but with other people in both Mantel Group and our clients.
* Understanding of how data teams work and the challenges that they face.
