Job Title: Cloud Engineering Team Lead
We are seeking an exceptional Cloud Engineer Leader to join our dynamic team.
* This is a leadership role with hands-on technical responsibilities and strategic influence in shaping our cloud future.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and mentoring a team of Cloud Engineers to deliver reliable, fault-tolerant Azure cloud infrastructure.
* Designing, implementing, and supporting key Azure services (VMs, Azure SQL, PaaS services, etc.).
* Driving cloud automation using Terraform, GitHub Actions, and scripting (PowerShell/Python).
* Providing escalation and expert support on cloud incidents, fault resolution, and problem management.
* Collaborating across IT, architecture, and security teams to uphold cloud governance, compliance, and performance standards.
* Developing cloud strategy, planning, and discussions within Enterprise Services.
* Staying current with Azure technologies and promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
* Serving as a liaison with business stakeholders, external partners, and vendors.
About the Role:
This is a permanent, full-time position with hybrid work arrangements based in Newcastle. The successful candidate will have experience leading a team of technical specialists in a cloud engineering environment and relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience leading a team of technical specialists in a cloud engineering environment.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated expertise as an Azure Cloud Engineer or similar role; strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services is preferred.
* Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions.
* A solid understanding of Agile and lean development methodologies, with practical experience applying these in cloud or IT delivery teams.
* Experience working within IT service management frameworks like ITIL, COBIT, or equivalent in a corporate setting.
* The ability to lead and develop team members, driving a collaborative and high-performing culture.
* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence change across teams.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead team members and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
