Shaping Spaces. Shaping Careers.
SHAPE Darwin is a locally based team delivering fitout, refurbishment and new build projects across the Northern Territory. Our work is typically delivered in complex government and defence‑led environments, where coordination, reliability and strong stakeholder management are critical.
Backed by a national, ASX‑listed business with more than 36 years of experience, our Darwin team combines national capability with a strong understanding of the Territory’s unique operating conditions. We deliver projects typically ranging from $50k to $50m across sectors including defence, government, education, health and community infrastructure.
As our presence in Darwin continues to grow, we’re focused on building a strong, stable local team who take pride in delivering reliable outcomes and supporting the Territory’s ongoing development.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead the day‑to‑day delivery of projects across Darwin and the Northern Territory. Working closely with our Project Managers and subcontractor partners, you’ll be responsible for coordinating site activities, maintaining strong safety standards and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the high-quality standards our clients expect.
You’ll be part of a close‑knit local team supported by the systems, expertise and resources of our national business. With exposure to a wide variety of projects and sectors, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership on site while contributing to the continued growth of SHAPE’s Northern Territory operation.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain a safe on‑site working environment in line with SHAPE’s EHSQ policies and procedures
• Coordinate day‑to‑day site activities including subcontractor supervision and programme delivery
• Establish and manage site safety processes including inductions, safety checks and risk management
• Build and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors, consultants and clients
• Monitor quality throughout construction and ensure defects are resolved prior to project handover
• Maintain accurate project records and update project progress within SHAPE’s project delivery systems
About You
You’re an experienced construction professional who takes pride in leading well‑run, safe and organised sites. You build strong relationships with subcontractors and clients, communicate clearly and bring a practical, solutions‑focused mindset to project delivery.
You’re comfortable working in dynamic environments and enjoy the responsibility that comes with running site operations. Most importantly, you care about safety, quality outcomes and supporting the team around you to deliver successful projects.
Key Requirements
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction industry, including at least 2 years in a Site Manager role within commercial fitout or construction
• Experience delivering projects typically ranging from $700k to $5M+
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications for accuracy and buildability
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing site programmes
• Solid understanding of construction safety standards and EHSQ principles
• A collaborative approach with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams and stakeholders
• A positive, proactive attitude with a genuine commitment to safety, quality and team culture
