We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Peer Worker with lived experience to join our innovative "Keeping Body in Mind" team helping and motivating mental health consumers to live a healthy lifestyle.
South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Service is an industry leader in recovery-oriented, strengths-based and person-centred care. We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified and experienced Mental Health Peer Support Worker for this 16 hour per week position. The position is based at Sutherland Hospital in the Keeping Body in Mind Team as well as being part of a team of Peer Support Workers working across the service.

KBIM, Community Mental Health, Sutherland Mental Health Service, located on the Sutherland Hospital campus, Caringbah.

Role Requirements
* Personal experience as a consumer of Mental Health Services and ability to utilise the lived experience to support others in their own mental health recovery journey.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in health promotion or related discipline or extensive experience in the health promotion field, or combination of both study and work experience or for Non-Grad a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness and commitment to obtain.
* Experience working in a peer support/consumer worker role, with the ability to plan, implement and evaluate group and individual peer led interventions.
* Demonstrated knowledge of current local, State and National legislation and standards relevant to mental health
* Demonstrated commitment to consumer led recovery principles including the physical health care of mental health consumers.
* Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to provide quality written documentation through the use of proficient IT skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as an effective team member.
