Junior Civil / Layout Engineer – Recycling Facility Development

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Junior Civil / Layout Engineer to join our client at Laverton North, supporting the planning and construction of a new recycling pad and storage area within an active industrial facility.
Working closely with the Project Manager and external consultants, you will help turn early concepts into practical, buildable layouts, develop earthworks and drainage models, and provide full-time on-site support during construction. This role is ideal for a graduate or junior engineer (1–3 years' experience) who enjoys hands-on work and wants strong exposure to real-world civil construction in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
CAD Layouts & Drawings
* Convert initial sketches and concepts into detailed 2D CAD layouts, including RCC pavements, block walls, tanks, equipment locations, and traffic routes
* Update layouts based on project feedback and maintain well-organised drawing sets
Levels & Modelling
* Import survey and drone data to develop surface models and cut/fill grids
* Prepare construction plans, sections, and spot-level drawings
Drainage & Services Drafting
* Draft drainage systems, pits, and pipe layouts in line with consultant designs
* Coordinate below-ground services including stormwater, firewater, electrical, and process water
RCC Slab & Block Bay Detailing
* Support the RCC designer with storage bay and block wall drawings, including dimensions and slab interfaces
* Produce sections and construction details as required
Construction & As-Built Support
* Update drawings for construction, incorporate site mark-ups and RFIs
* Prepare final as-built documentation
* Be full-time onsite during construction to verify dimensions and resolve practical issues
General Project Support
* Prepare sketches for contractor discussions
* Assist with approval drawings
* Maintain organised digital drawing files and registers

Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil & Infrastructure Engineering, or equivalent
* 1–3 years' civil engineering experience, ideally on industrial sites or land development projects
* Experience converting concepts, sketches, and mark-ups into accurate drawings and models
* Sound understanding of levels, falls, stormwater fundamentals, and concrete pavements

Software Skills
Essential:
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar) for 2D drafting
Preferred:
* Familiarity with Australian/Victorian civil design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D or 12d Model
* Experience with surface modelling and cut/fill calculations
Desirable:
* Exposure to stormwater design tools (e.g. DRAINS, MUSIC, Civil 3D stormwater tools)
* Strong MS Excel skills for basic hydraulic calculations and quantity take-offs
