About the role:
We are offering an exciting opportunity for Casual News Journalist to fill a vacancy within Illawarra's No 1 Radio Station (i98FM) in Wollongong.
Reporting to the Content Director - Audio & Strategy, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing and presenting high quality news stories and bulletins with high relevance and appeal to i98FM listeners throughout the Illawarra region.
- Presentation of live and recorded news bulletins in line with style guidance.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of news, current affairs and sport affecting or relevant to the community.
About you:
The successful applicant will have:
- Currently studying or have obtained University qualification, majoring in Journalism.
- Relevant experience in a radio news room would be beneficial, but not required.
- A confident public speaker with a compelling on-air presence and the ability to engage listeners through clear, dynamic storytelling.
- Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility.
- Ability to communicate well daily check with police and other emergency services, local politicians and potential news and sport sources.
- The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- The ability to work in a fast paced environment - creating and presenting 1-2 bulletins per hour
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
