The Role
The CG Group's tax team in Sydney, Australia, manages the Group's global tax compliance and reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions. This role involves working closely with the Global Head of Tax, the broader finance team, and other stakeholders to manage sales tax, indirect tax obligations, product classifications, and system documentation, with a focus on AU, NZ, UK, and European direct tax compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing quarterly global tax effect accounting and balance sheet reconciliations for all jurisdictions.
* Acting as the primary contact for tax matters related to group and local statutory audits.
* Providing tax advisory and technical leadership, including M&A transactions.
* Forecasting group cash taxes.
* Managing global WHT reporting and processes.
* Managing tax authority audits.
* Supporting global transfer pricing and transparency compliance, including debt management and TP documentation.
* Ensuring controls and processes facilitate timely tax compliance.
* Driving process improvements, automation, and technology adoption.
* Supporting VAT/GST/Sales Tax filings and related projects as needed.
Regional Tax Responsibilities
Australia: Direct tax compliance, BAS submissions, R&D returns.
New Zealand: Income tax review, FBT compliance.
India: Income tax review, TDS payments, transfer pricing.
China, Malaysia, Japan: Direct tax compliance management.
Other: Income tax oversight as required.
Qualifications and Skills
* 8+ years of tax experience, including 2+ years in a managerial role, from Big 4 or in-house roles.
* Essential experience in Australian taxes, including GST, R&D, CGT, FBT, Division 7A, TOFA, CFC, Transfer Pricing, Corporate Governance, Tax Losses, WHT.
* Strong tax effect accounting and transfer pricing expertise.
* Desired experience in AU, NZ, Europe, Aspac regions.
* CA/CPA qualification.
* Experience with Netsuite preferred.
* Exposure to multiple tax authorities.
* Comfort with technology and extensive Excel skills.
* Strong communication, judgment, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Self-motivated with a learning mindset and proactive attitude.
* Excellent technical and analytical skills.
