What's the role?
The GTS business at Westpac provides transactional banking and payments solutions to governments, large corporates and small business customers. GTS also manages Westpac's participation in various payment systems (New Payments Platform, BECS, SWIFT) and helps set the payments strategy for the Westpac group. '
While GTS Legal forms part of the broader institutional bank Legal team, this role has a focus on transactional banking and payments rather than lending.
This role will give you valuable insight into how money moves through our banking system, how companies of all sizes manage their banking needs and cutting-edge developments in payments technology. You will be providing strategic legal guidance to support business growth, particularly in payments and transaction products. Advising on regulatory and competitive challenges, evolving product portfolios, and compliance with key legislation including the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, Banking Code of Practice, ePayments Code, and privacy laws. Leads negotiations on customer and commercial agreements and ensures alignment with payments system rules and regulations.
What do I need?
* 7+ years PQE
* Solid private practice and/or in-house experience in financial services, advising on banking products and regulatory obligations and issues
* Advising on large strategic projects and regulatory changes
* Commercial contract drafting and negotiation
* Experience in advising on digital products and platforms and associated privacy and data issues is not necessary but will be highly regarded.
* Energetic self-starter who shows initiative and drive
* Excellent at building strong relationships
