Survey services deliver essential data and insights that support the planning, design, construction, and land management of a wide range of City of Gold Coast projects. These services encompass engineering surveys, cadastral surveys, and hydrographic surveys. The team is committed to providing accurate, professional, and reliable services to a diverse range of stakeholders across the City.
About the role
We are seeking a Hydrographic Surveyor to deliver hydrographic surveys across coastal, nearshore and inland environments, ensuring work meets legislative, certification and customer requirements. The role involves leading survey teams, operating specialist hydrographic and engineering equipment, and supporting engineering surveys as needed, contributing to the delivery of high-quality data, reporting and organisational programs.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead and supervise hydrographic and engineering survey teams across coastal and inland waterways.
* Deliver compliant survey data, plans, and reports using specialist hydrographic software.
* Operate, maintain, and calibrate survey equipment, vessels, and USVs.
* Provide technical advice, mentor staff, and review internal and contractor survey work.
* Plan and manage survey activities while ensuring WHS and marine compliance.
We're looking for people who have:
* Advanced Diploma in Spatial Science or equivalent knowledge and experience
* C Class Drivers Licence
* Sound knowledge of hydrographic standards, legislation, WHS, and marine safety requirements.
* Strong technical capability in hydrographic data collection, processing, and reporting using industry software.
* Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver survey projects within time and quality constraints.
* Clear communication skills, including technical reporting and stakeholder liaison.
* Attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and a strong commitment to safe, efficient operations.
* Experience leading hydrographic and engineering survey projects in coastal and inland environments.
