About the role:
The Meter Reader position involves driving to the start of an allocated route and then moving on foot from location to location reading and logging data from water meters into a hand-held device for commercial and domestic properties throughout the Unitywater contract area. We are offering casual positions initially with the potential to go full-time for the right candidate.
Candidates would ideally reside within the Moreton Bay region and should be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and terrain, walking between 10km and 30km per day. This is a very physically demanding position where we work towards tight deadlines to deliver a high level of service standards.
Responsibilities
* Reading and logging data from water meters into a hand-held device for commercial and domestic properties.
* Travel to the start of allocated routes and move on foot between locations throughout the contracted area.
* Adhere to safety standards and deadlines while performing duties in all weather conditions.
* Enter properties safely when required and maintain professional customer interactions.
Qualifications
* Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
* Physically fit and able to walk 10–30 km daily in all weather conditions
* Strong focus on safety, reliability and meeting deadlines
* Excellent attention to detail with strong customer service skills
* Comfortable entering properties (including those with animals safely)
* Willing to complete police check, medical and drug/alcohol screening
* Available to work between 5 – 7 hours/day (weekdays)
* Previous meter reading experience would be considered highly desirable
