Supervisor High Profile Maintenance

About the team

The team is responsible for the maintenance and management of high profile parks across the city. Reporting to the Coordinator Open Space Maintenance (South) and supervising a dedicated mowing crew, you will play a key role in managing essential functions including a foreshore mowing team, light rail vegetation, turf renovation projects, irrigation scheduling using ICC IRRInet, and the implementation of integrated pest management programs. Our team cultivates a collaborative, hands-on work environment that emphasizes continuous improvement, professional growth, and the delivery of premium quality parks.

These services are delivered in partnership with the respective asset custodians through service level agreements that define the roles, responsibilities, service, and service level to be provided, with regular partnering meetings to monitor progress.

About your new role

Based at the Miami depot, under the general direction of the Coordinator Open Space Maintenance (South), the successful candidate will ensure that the maintenance of high profile parks, light rail vegetation and event space is organised on a daily basis to provide the agreed level of service, in an effective and efficient manner, and in accordance with Council's aims and objectives.

Responsibilities and duties of the role incumbent include, but are not limited to:

* To provide comprehensive project management services including renovation and irrigation programs and the implementation and monitoring of maintenance programs to High Profile Parks and major event spaces in accordance with Council's corporate plan.
* Develop and implement maintenance practices, programs and monitoring to High Profile Parks and major event spaces in accordance with Council's corporate plan.
* Coordination of maintenance activities within the Light Rail Corridor including maintenance, project management and contract management
* Provide directions and expertise to internal and external providers charged with the development of new grassed park areas.
* Supervise staff by issuing directions and providing instructions and programming works for mowing of High-Profile Parks.
* Select appropriate personnel, plant materials and procedures to maximise outcomes in terms of quality and productivity.
* Adhere to and promote Council's safety objectives
* Organise temporary park closures, temporary fencing, liaise with stakeholders and contractors, and other ancillary matters such as signage and irrigation control/identification to meet necessary project and maintenance requirements.
* Assist with the management of the Central Irrinet System maintained by Open Space Maintenance
* Follow designated work practices and perform a high standard of work as directed.
* Sound knowledge of related legislation, Council's by-laws and procedures.
* Participate in identified training programs to increase skills and knowledge and participate in multi-skilling within crew for continual improvement of the section.

We're looking for people who have:

* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Well developed organisational skills
* Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a team
* Minimum Diploma in Horticulture / Arboriculture or equivalent knowledge and experience
* General Construction Induction Card (White) (Mandatory)
* Current 'C' Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory)
* Computer skills including Outlook, MS Excel, Mapping
* Experience with SAP Work Orders and Notifications or similar program
* Ability and Willingness to work weekends and after hours as required. (Perform duties as an On Call Officer)
