Where you'll be working:
Life comes with a distinct twang in Tamworth, the spiritual home of Australian country music. Visitors pour into this regional hub every autumn for the world-famous Tamworth Country Music Festival, but you'll also discover a vibrant region rich in culture, history, local produce, and warm country hospitality.
You will be working within the Chronic and Complex Care team at Tamworth Community Health Service. This role also offers opportunities to pick up additional shifts at Tamworth Hospital and surrounding areas including Walcha, Manilla, and Werris Creek.
About the role:
In this role, you will conduct hearing assessments for community clients, with a primary focus on children referred by healthcare providers or through self-referral. You will play a vital part in ensuring timely and accurate hearing assessments, forwarding results to referring medical officers such as GPs and ENT specialists.
The service operates Monday to Friday, within standard business hours.
You will work independently with strong support from our Clinical Nurse Consultant, Nurse Unit Manager, and the broader team. Comprehensive support includes access to a yearly local audiometry workshop and scholarships to attend the Audiometry Nurses Association Conference every second year.
Please note: This position is 16 hours per week, with potential to pick up extra shifts across Tamworth and nearby communities.
About you:
You are an enthusiastic and independent Registered Nurse who:
Holds a qualification in audiometry from a Registered Training Organisation or is at least halfway through the course Communicates clearly and confidently with clients and team members Has strong computer skills to manage client records and reporting Enjoys working with children and providing high-quality, client-centred care Is self-motivated and comfortable working independently with the knowledge that support is readily available Is keen to take advantage of ongoing professional development opportunities
Requirements: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Completion of (or current enrolment in) an audiometry qualification recognised by a Registered Training Organisation Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a supportive team environment Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality client assessments and complete accurate reporting
