The Medical Imaging Registered Nurse is responsible for providing patient care encompassing a range of age groups and speciality areas, with varying levels of patient acuity (outpatient, inpatient and critical care). Nurses are required to undertake comprehensive assessment and care of patients before, during and after diagnostic radiology examinations/procedures. Medical Imaging Registered Nurses are supported to develop speciality skills including contrast administration, vascular access and post imaging care. A key role of the Medical Imaging Registered Nurse is to collaborate with different multidisciplinary team members (Radiographers, Radiologists, medical teams etc.), ensuring patients experience high quality, safe care. Nurses maintain a patient centred approach, ensuring patients understand their examination/procedure and post examination/ procedure requirements. A Little About Us. Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
