The Role
The Directorate Work Health Safety - Army Headquarters is seeking an APS 4 WHS Officer to provide specialist administrative support to the team.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Requirement to assist the team in the management of Army's WHS Management System and provide exceptional customer service and support to Defence users of Sentinel and other associated programs.
- Collaboration with the team on complex and sensitive WHS issues. This includes reports on serious incidents, managing sensitive reports, and negotiating safety improvements to meet legislative timeframes.
- Ability to interpret safety management policies and implement across Defence. They will be required to analyse information, prepare recommendations and reports and undertake the quality assurance function for safety incidents reported to Army.
- Requirement to communicate with, respond and provide advice to a range of stakeholders on operational and administrative issues.
About our Team
The Directorate of Work Health Safety Army (DWHS-A) is tasked with ensuring a safe and healthy working environment, which is especially critical given the high-risk nature of military operations. DWHS-A is the central authority for WHS in Army, managing incident reporting to Comcare, safety investigations, and a range of policies and procedures that align with the WHS Act 2011 across its Commands. This is achieved by providing resources, training and support to Defence personnel so they can better understand their responsibilities. Our core mission is to work towards minimising injuries, illnesses, and diseases for military members, civilian employees and contractors.

- Drafting and/or contributing to WHS Guidance documentation.
