Your new Team - TCZ: The TCZ is a scientifically backed 'waterless barrier' designed to remove access to water at more than 150 artificial water points along a narrow coastal strip between the Kimberley and Pilbara. Without freshwater access, cane toads cannot survive the dry season, making this a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity to protect 27 million hectares of ecologically and culturally significant landscapes. The TCZ team is a dedicated frontline unit working to halt the westward spread of invasive cane toads and protect some of Australia's most vulnerable ecosystems. Operating in remote and ecologically significant landscapes, the team combines field expertise, innovative monitoring techniques, and rapid response capability to safeguard native wildlife. This is a group defined by purpose, collaboration, and a shared commitment to one of the country's most ambitious conservation efforts. This collaborative project involves Traditional Owners, Indigenous ranger groups, pastoralists, industry and scientists from Curtin and Deakin Universities.
