1-year full time, fixed term position An excellent opportunity to join Inclusion & Disability Services and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students Base Salary $108,557 17% superannuation About the opportunity This is a Targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Position. This Exemption is claimed under Section 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 The Inclusion & Disability Services team is looking for a highly motivated and self-driven Inclusion & Disability Services Officer to join their high performing team. In this role, you will be the principal contact within Inclusion & Disability Services for students with disabilities seeking adjustments to enable them to participate in their education at the University of Sydney. You will be responsible for conducting assessments of students, making recommendations to relevant staff within the University regarding appropriate services and support, as well as coordinating the ongoing provision of these services and support. This position is designated as child-related employment. To be able to work in this role, you will need a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) or to consent to WWCC employment screening. Your key responsibilities will be to: work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Manager, Inclusion and Disability collaborate with staff in the Gadigal Centre to increase First Nations student engagement and representation with Inclusion & Disability Services manage and review individual disability support services, academic plans, and student data in line with policies and legal requirements conduct assessments of students with disabilities, provide tailored inclusion strategies, and make informed recommendations to staff act as an escalation point for student concerns, using conflict resolution to mitigate risks and ensure duty of care assist with administrative duties including exams, database updates, policy documentation, purchasing, and internal communications provide training, resources, expert advice, and contribute to policy and Disability Action Plan implementation while maintaining professional networks and knowledge. About you Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, allied health, social sciences or a related field and/or extensive demonstrated experience in a similar role demonstrated first-hand lived experience and engagement in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities knowledge of higher education environment and demonstrated understanding of the needs of tertiary students with a disability demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology high-level ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters experience in providing services to a diverse client group.
