About the Company Our large NSW State Government client plays a critical role in maintaining community safety and trust across the state. This is a newly created position within the Shared Services and HR Transactional Services division, designed to strengthen payroll integrity and data governance. Purpose of the Role Reporting to the Manager, Shared Services and HR Transactional Services, this role supports payroll and workers compensation operations by establishing frameworks, controls, and quality assurance mechanisms to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and integrity across all payroll-related activities. You’ll apply both technical and analytical strengths to design processes, uncover data gaps, and develop systems-driven solutions that improve payroll compliance and reporting capability. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain frameworks for the extraction, reconciliation, and verification of payroll and workers compensation data using SAP and other systems. Establish and embed quality assurance practices for payroll operations in alignment with government policy, legislation, and industry standards. Perform deep-dive analysis to identify and remediate data quality issues, inconsistencies, and non-compliance across transactional systems. Partner with stakeholders across payroll, HR, and workers insurance to enhance governance, accuracy, and end-to-end process integrity. Document and improve procedures for employee record management, data amendments, and payroll corrections to strengthen audit and compliance readiness. Develop reports, dashboards, and visualisations (e.g. in Power BI) to support ongoing monitoring and oversight of payroll and workers compensation activities. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system utilisation and data-driven decision making across shared services. Ideal Candidate Profile Demonstrated experience with SAP (mandatory) in a payroll, HR, or finance environment within a large or complex organisation. Proven ability to develop and implement frameworks that support payroll and data integrity objectives. Strong technical capability, including advanced skills in SQL, Power BI, and data reconciliation. Experience implementing or managing quality assurance and control frameworks for high-volume transactional processes. Solid understanding of compliance, governance, and record-keeping standards for payroll and workers compensation. Analytical mindset with a meticulous eye for detail and strong documentation skills. Confident stakeholder engagement skills and ability to operate collaboratively in a high-trust, data-driven environment.
