Job Description and Context
ASD requires a Systems Administrator to deliver, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain scalable, repeatable, secure, and functional system solutions—including commercial and private cloud solutions—to support ASD's PROTECTED and OFFICIAL capabilities while managing dependencies. The candidate will work with ASD customers to design and deliver cost-effective, secure, resilient cloud-based solutions on and off-prem, and identify opportunities to consolidate, simplify, streamline, and continually improve cloud or cloud-utilising internal and customer capability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors, measures, optimises, and reports on infrastructure load, performance and security events.
Investigates, implements, and manages tools, techniques, and processes (including automation) for the management of systems, applications, and services.
Oversees and/or delivers the planning, installation, maintenance and acceptance of new and updated infrastructure components, infrastructure-based services, and value-added applications.
Ensures that operational procedures and documentation are fit for purpose and kept up to date; identifies, records, monitors, and resolves operational issues and provides appropriate status and other reports to specialists, users and managers.
Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
Performs agreed operational procedures, including backup/restore, using supplied infrastructure tools and scripts.
Conducts agreed system software maintenance tasks and automates routine system administration tasks to specifications using standard tools and scripting.
Contributes to the planning and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and updates; implements agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines.
Configures tools and/or creates scripts to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure.
Technical Skills – Essential
At least 5–10 years' experience developing and delivering solutions for complex projects.
Strong technical skills across a number of ICT disciplines, including cloud and on-premise environments.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.
Experience managing complex projects.
