Role
The school psychologist will be responsible to the Principal via the Assistant Principal. In addition, they will liaise with PLC Leaders, Teaching Staff and Education Support staff, to assist with the school’s response to the wellbeing needs of students and their families.

The role may include but is not limited to:
1. Liaising with internal and external agencies to maximise outcomes for students and their families
2. Delivering professional support services in the school, including direct therapy for students with a range of mental health issues, applying sound theoretical knowledge and practical expertise
3. Planning and implementing evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs including collaborating with families, other professionals and agencies when appropriate, and managing the associated risks
4. Providing feedback and support for families regarding individual student needs
5. Assisting in the development and implementation of a variety of plans such as, individual education plans, engagement support plans and safety plans
6. Conducting individual assessments and risk assessment for students with a range of complex needs as requested by the Principal or their delegate
7. Assisting in the development of Disability Inclusion profiles and attending DIP meetings
8. Liaising with and advising teachers, education support staff and parents/carers regarding the support and intervention needs of students and modelling the implementation of recommendations.
9. Providing professional advice and learning to others, such as teachers and other school wellbeing staff, to build the capacity of schools to improve students’ learning and developmental outcomes.
10. Maintain accurate and detailed case notes and student files in accordance with school guidelines
11. Work collaboratively with the school to contribute to policies and operational practices that will guide the work of others
12. Maintain professional competence and continued professional learning, including attending professional development activities throughout the year.
13. Where required, participate in Student Support Group meetings to assist in the implementation of meeting actions
14. Meet relevant policies and legislative requirements in relation to student health information privacy.

18. Demonstrate leadership and provide professional learning to others, such as teachers and other school wellbeing staff, to build the capacity of schools to improve students’ learning and developmental outcomes.
19. Liaise with other Department areas (including Student Support Services staff) and external service providers where necessary to provide support to students.
20. Maintain professional competence and continued professional learning, including attending professional development activities throughout the year.
21. Meet relevant policies and legislative requirements in relation to student health information privacy.
22. Facilitation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions.
23. Support with crisis intervention and risk assessment.
24. Coordinate supports (both within and external to the school) for students with critical needs, including proactively working with regions and other health professionals to engage further support as required.
25. Completion of psychoeducational assessment of students on a needs basis.
26. Support data collection processes to evaluate and feedback on school-based wellbeing programs and strategies.
27. Support staff in following Child Safe guidelines.
28. Provision of Professional Development to staff on a range of student wellbeing and Child Safe issues.
29. Consultation with staff regarding students on engagement support plans, individual education plans, safety plans, suspensions and expulsions
30. Maintenance of confidential files and records in accordance with professional guidelines, ethical codes, health records and privacy legislation.
Qualifications and requirements:
31. Fully registered Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
32. Direct counselling experience
33. Current Working with Children Check
34. Experience in a school context desirable
35. Experience and/or knowledge of Disability Inclusion and the associated profile, is highly desirable
