Wine Australia empowers the success of the Australian grape and wine sector across three key functions:
Research, innovation and adoption
Regulatory services
Wine Australia is funded by the sector, for the sector, through grapegrower, winemaker and exporter levies and user-pays charges, with matching funds from the Australian Government for research and innovation. Working collaboratively with the sector and Government, we amplify insights, connection and capability building to support profitable, resilient and sustainable grape and wine businesses.
The positions require Directors who demonstrate integrity, proven honesty, and a consistent track record of acting in good faith. Appointees must possess the ability to act in the best interests of the Australian grape and wine sector as a whole and have demonstrated corporate governance capability and board experience.
They should have a strong understanding of the challenges facing the industry, together with a clear commitment to contributing to their resolution.
We are seeking applicants who will bring a committed, holistic, future focused approach for the Australian wine industry for non-executive director positions for a term of up to three years. Applicants shall embrace the role of governance and must be able to demonstrate expertise and/or extensive experience in one or more of the following domains, with particular emphasis on areas highlighted in bold:
grapegrowing
winemaking
agriculture, technology, AI
market access and market development; regulatory and trade
research, innovation, and portfolio management
research, extension, and adoption
regional economic development
ESG
statutory authority governance
Applicants are asked to provide career and personal details in a maximum of three pages including a brief and current CV and cover letter addressing those areas from the list above in which they have specific skills and experience. Other relevant skills and experience should also be noted. Board experience is essential with understanding of statutory obligations. AICD qualifications will be very highly regarded. Remuneration and allowances for directors are prescribed by the Australian Government Remuneration Tribunal.
