About the Role
Are you a seasoned finance professional with a passion for driving business success through strategic advice and meaningful financial insights? We're seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our Group Finance team at Macquarie University.
As a trusted advisor partnering with senior stakeholders, you will provide critical financial insights and influence business decision‐making. You will work directly with the Executive Dean, Faculty Executive Director, and the Director of Financial Performance, driving change management and new financial strategies.
This high‐impact role sits at the intersection of finance and strategy, translating complex data into actionable intelligence that drives business outcomes.
What Will You Do
* Partner strategically with key stakeholders to understand their business needs and provide expert financial guidance that influences direction and decision‐making.
* Drive business performance through insightful analysis, scenario modelling, and cost‐benefit evaluations that support new initiatives and strategic imperatives.
* Lead continuous improvement activities within business units, embedding efficient finance processes.
* Shape financial planning by partnering with business units to develop and critically evaluate annual budgets, forecasts, and long‐term financial plans.
* Deliver high‐impact analysis and insights through month‐end analyses and management information that tells the story behind the numbers.
About You (Selection Criteria)
You have similar experience as a Finance Business Partner managing multiple stakeholders within a large organisation with complex accounting and reporting needs. With sound knowledge of commercial finance and the external finance landscape, you can apply this knowledge to support and influence stakeholders across all levels to ensure delivery. In addition you will have the following:
* Professional credentials – CA/CPA or equivalent qualification.
* Substantial experience – At least 4 years post‐CA/CPA experience in similar roles within large, complex organisations.
* Business partnering excellence – Proven ability to build rapport and influence senior stakeholders with trust and credibility.
* Financial modelling – including scenario analysis and presenting actionable insights to support strategy and decision‐making.
* Commercial acumen – Sharp business insight combined with experience applying strong accounting principles.
* Advanced technical skills – Expertise in financial modelling, scenario analysis, and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint).
