System Administrator
Location: Canberra ACT (Onsite)
Contract: Full‑time,
Clearance: NV1 (required)
We are currently looking for a System Administrator to join a small, collaborative onsite team within a large federal government department.The deparment usese a custom built system whish is a large‑scale, n‑tier, web‑based application built on the Microsoft technology stack and delivered using agile development methods, with regular enhancement releases each year. This role is ideal for someone early in their system administration career who is keen to work hands‑on in a structured environment supporting nationally significant systems. What you'll be doing
* Monitoring and analysing system performance and resolving issues
* Identifying configuration discrepancies, assessing security risks, and implementing compliant solutions
* Installing, maintaining and supporting server hardware and software
* Supporting testing activities including test execution and outcome reporting
* Producing and maintaining technical documentation and system artefacts
* Working collaboratively within a small onsite team while managing tasks independently
* Assisting with training activities, demonstrations, presentations and eLearning content as required
* Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to support system sustainment and improvement
Key Skills Required
* Experience identifying and analysing system performance issues
* Experience identifying configuration discrepancies and implementing secure, compliant solutions
* Experience designing, installing and maintaining server hardware and software
* Ability to work flexibly across a range of tasks within a small team
* Strong time management skills
* Experience creating and maintaining system and process documentation
* Understanding of the ICT software development lifecycle, including testing and release processes
