The opportunity

Are you passionate about empowering young people through vibrant, inclusive events and youth programs?

Our Community Services team is looking for a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic individual to fill the temporary part-time position of Youth Development Projects Officer. Working within the Youth Development team, you will design, develop and deliver projects that benefit young people.

Working across the youth and community sector, you will be responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders to create innovative and focussed projects that will benefit young people with a range of outcomes which may include; supporting youth leadership, celebrating young people’s achievements, facilitating youth access to training and employment, promoting health and wellbeing outcomes for young people and other projects that align with the City of Mandurah’s new Youth Strategy.

This role is responsible for coordinating the planning, promotion, and delivery of youth-focussed events, programs and activities. Key duties include collaborating with community partners, managing event logistics and budgets, and ensuring meaningful youth engagement throughout the event lifecycle.

To be successful in these roles, you will:

- Degree level qualification in events, education, community development, social science or other relevant discipline
- Current National Police Clearance (within 6 months of date of issue)
- Valid Working with Children Check (or ability to apply)
- Previous Local Government experience (desirable)
- Significant experience in working with the community and development of projects that address and respond to community needs with proven outcomes
- Experience working with young people
- Experience in facilitation, networking and project management
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
