About NATSIAACC:

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing and Aged Care Council ('NATSIAACC') is the National Peak body that aims to be an independent voice that will improve the care our Elders and Older People receive. NATSIAACC works with our Member's across Australia to ensure Elders and Older People are able to access support and care that is culturally safe, trauma aware and healing informed, and recognises the importance of their personal connections to culture, community and Country and/or Island Home.

Our Members are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aged Care Providers, and organisations with an interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led care that support NATSIAACC's objectives. NATSIAACC provides our Members with support and guidance about the issues that our Community face and to learn from the wisdom and experience of Elders and Older People.

About the role:

As the Communications and Marketing Officer, you will be directly reporting to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of NATSIAACC's communications and marketing activities to enhance national visibility, strengthen the brand, and amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, Older People, and Providers.

The role combines creative storytelling, media and digital management, and end-to-end marketing with some activities to support event management to promote NATSIAACC's advocacy, partnerships, and sector leadership. Working closely with the Director of Operations, the role ensures all communication and event activities are culturally grounded, strategic, and aligned with NATSIAACC's mission and values.

Key Accountabilities

* Deliver NATSIAACC's communications and marketing strategies to strengthen brand visibility, advocacy, and engagement across digital and traditional channels.
* Create high-quality written and visual content that amplifies the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isalnder Elders, Older People and Aged Care Providers.
* Maintain and grow NATSIAACC's online presence, ensuring consistent, accessible, and culturally grounded messaging across the website, social media, and media platforms.
* Monitor ageing and aged care media, newsletters, sector subscriptions, and government communications to identify and share relevant updates, announcements, and opportunities relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Elders, Older People and Providers.
* Coordinate marketing, promotion, and logistical support for NATSIAACC events including Member Forums, Yarning Circles, and national conferences, ensuring a strong brand presence and professional delivery.
* Build positive relationships with Members, media, partners, and sector stakeholders through proactive communications and engagement initiatives.
* Ensure all visual materials and publications align with NATSIAACC's brand guidelines, tone and cultural safety principles.
* Monitor communications and event performance metrics, maintain a communications and event activity register, providing quarterly reports and recommendations to improve reach, engagement, and impact.
* Contribute to a collaborative Secretariat culture by supporting cross-team projects, sharing knowledge, and upholding NATSIAACC's values in all work.

Qualifications and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Media, or relevant discipline.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or media management, ideally within a community-controlled, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander or Government setting.

Essential Requirements:

* Proven success in planning and delivering integrated communications and marketing that achieve measurable engagement.
* Strong writing, editing, and visual story-telling skills adaptable across platforms.
* Demonstrated ability to monitor and analyse media, government, and sector updates, identifying relevant information for strategic response.
* Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and email marketing tools such as Mailchimp.
* High-level organisational and project-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines and events.
* Commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination, cultural safety, and authentic representation in communications.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels internally and externally.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrate empathy when required.
* Demonstrated high level ability to apply discretion, judgement and maintain confidentiality.
* Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
* Willingness to undertake a National Police Check.
* Current valid Driver's Licence and willingness to travel interstate for the role.

Benefits of joining NATSIAACC:

* A Remuneration Package of $90,000 gross per annum, plus superannuation
