PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust, secure, and scalable network architectures that underpin the renewal of ageing ICT infrastructure across government directorates. The role contributes to the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) by ensuring network solutions are fit-for-purpose, future-ready, and aligned with enterprise priorities for service continuity, cybersecurity, and operational resilience. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Create and maintain high-level and detailed network design architectures for both operational environments and project-specific implementations. Implement complex network designs and develop documentation to support ongoing operations and asset lifecycle management. Provide subject matter expertise on ICT network matters to stakeholders across ACT Government directorates Liaise and negotiate with directorates, vendors, and third parties to design fit-for-purpose network solutions aligned with refresh priorities. Prepare and maintain technical documentation to support operational and project requirements, ensuring alignment with ACT Government standards and cybersecurity policies. Support the development, delivery, and integration of network capabilities within the ICT Infrastructure Refresh Initiative. ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in multi-vendor data communications environments, with expertise in WAN, LAN, cloud, data centre, and wireless technologies. Proven experience in network architecture and design, particularly in complex environments such as new building constructions or large-scale infrastructure refresh programs. Strong understanding of network security principles, including segmentation, firewalling, and VPN implementation. Demonstrated ability to review, validate, and implement network designs that support strategic asset renewal. High-level attention to detail and proficiency in developing and analysing technical documentation. Relevant qualifications or certifications in Network Engineering or equivalent industry experience are highly desirable.
