Offer description

Geraldton Grammar School (GGS)

Geraldton Grammar School is a welcoming, co-educational Anglican school for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Located on nearly 18 hectares in the scenic Midwest city of Geraldton, our campus features beautiful gardens and ocean views.

With over 700 students, we are small enough for each student to be known and valued, yet large enough to offer a broad range of subjects and opportunities. We embrace diversity and are inclusive of all cultures and faiths.

Our dedicated staff contribute beyond the classroom, including participation in our vibrant camps program. In recognition of this commitment, we offer extended term breaks. Smaller class sizes also allow for more meaningful engagement and improved student outcomes, in quiet, calm spaces.

Our teaching approach is grounded in high-quality, differentiated instruction, continuous feedback, and a strong focus on developing independent, respectful learners. Our motto, 'Striving for Excellence', is reflected in all that we do.

Child Safety Commitment

Geraldton Grammar School takes child protection seriously. All candidates for roles at Geraldton Grammar School are subject to screening and assessment against child safety standards as part of our thorough recruitment process.

The Position

This is a full-time combined teaching position of Physical Education (at 0.6FTE) and Classroom Teacher (0.4FTE) for 12 months, with the possibility of it being ongoing.

We are seeking a dynamic, organised, and passionate Primary School Physical Education (PE) Teacher who can inspire a love of movement, health, and learning in our students. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Physical Education programs that foster the physical, social, and emotional development of children through engaging and purposeful teaching both inside the classroom and in a variety of outdoor learning environments.

This role involves the planning, coordination, and active participation in school carnivals, sporting events, and camps, as well as involvement in activities such as Country Week. The teacher will organise and supervise these programs to ensure safe, inclusive, and rewarding experiences for all students, while promoting school spirit and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

The position requires the ability to design and implement relevant and engaging learning experiences that align with the physical education curriculum, to demonstrate strong content knowledge, and use appropriate assessment tools to monitor and record student progress through the School's online management system (SEQTA). The successful applicant will create inclusive and supportive learning environments, foster positive relationships, and communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents in a timely and professional manner. A commitment to continual professional growth, reflective practice, and high standards of performance is essential to success in this role.

It is expected that the successful applicant will be involved in some extracurricular camps, staff meetings, curriculum evenings and parent/teacher interviews.

The classroom teaching role will be working in tandem, planning for and implementing effective teaching, learning, assessment and reporting. Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment is vital. The applicant will work as part of a cohesive and collaborative team.

This is a full-time, fixed term position commencing January 2026. Relocation assistance will be offered to the right candidate.
