We are seeking to appoint a Trainee Psychiatrist in various regions across Western Australia.
This role involves working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary and medical teams under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist, providing assessment and management for clients requiring specialist psychiatric care.
The Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) program is overseen by the Western Australia Branch Training Committee, aligning with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).
Key Responsibilities:
* Assessment and management of clients requiring specialist psychiatric care
* Collaboration with multidisciplinary and medical teams
* Participation in the Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) program
Selection Criteria:
* Excellent interpersonal skills and high-level communication skills
* Current RANZCP trainee or on approved Break in Training
* Able to satisfy the Selection Panel of suitable academic record, RANZCP training record and employment history
* Commitment and eligibility to undertake psychiatry training
* Clinical competence in both General Medicine and Psychological Medicine
* Ability to use proficient problem-solving techniques, coping strategies and ability to tolerate and deal effectively with stressful situations
* Rural background and/or rural clinical experience
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
