Chef - Food Preparation and Management Role

Job Summary:

* We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to lead our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, presenting, storing, and overseeing the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation and Presentation: Prepare, present, store, and oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food in accordance with high standards of quality and presentation.
2. Team Leadership and Development: Direct, coach, and provide leadership to kitchen staff ensuring training and development, providing input for performance development, and disciplinary action.
3. Quality Control: Maintain product consistency through regular inspections of portions and appearance of food items.
4. Kitchen Operations: Ensure cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in kitchen areas including refrigerators and storerooms and that food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness.
5. Inventory Management: Order and maintain inventory of food products for an efficiently run kitchen based on budgeting needs.
6. Innovation and Improvement: Bring forth ideas to increase food revenue, decrease kitchen expenses, and maximize departmental productivity without compromising guest satisfaction.
7. Daily Menu Planning: Ensure daily menu specials are cost-effective and of high standards in quality and presentation.

Qualifications:

* Technical Qualification: Technical qualification obtained through apprenticeship training or related post-secondary education.
* Food Safety Certification: Food Safety certification required.
* Experience: 4+ year's food service experience as a 1st Cook preferably in a remote site environment.
* Additional Certifications: Advanced Food Safety certification, WHMIS, and First Aid certification preferred.
* Driver's License: Valid class 5 or higher driver's license and clean driver's abstract required.
* Financial Management Skills: Basic financial management skills, ability to understand and manage operating budgets, forecasting, and scheduling.
