About The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Service Programs – Land & Catchments, this is a full-time, fixed-term position until 22 August within the Service Programs team.
As the Specialist Asset Planner, you will play a key role in supporting and developing 5-year and 20-year rolling investment programs focused on water supply catchment protection, bushfire management, integrated catchment management, and land management services.
These programs will align with the Port Phillip and Westernport Regional Catchment Strategy, Melbourne Water's Drinking Water Quality Strategy, and Melbourne Water's land management policies.
As a senior specialist within Melbourne Water, you will provide strategic guidance to stakeholders, senior leaders, and executive teams, ensuring effective planning and delivery of critical initiatives.
In this role you will
Lead the development of 5 and 20 year investment plans for land and catchment services including capital, non-asset and maintenance programs for land and catchments including protection of water supply, bushfire management and, where appropriate, land activation.
Develop tools, guidelines, prioritisation methods and evaluation techniques to guide where investments are made within the Port Phillip and Westernport catchments.
Lead projects / initiatives that determine how we evolve our programs to account for future challenges such as climate change and urban growth impacts.
Work with the Manager, Service Programs Land and Catchments to drive program performance.
Explore innovative partnerships and technology solutions.
About You
Tertiary degree in natural resource management, forest and fire management or extensive experience catchment or land management
Significant experience in the development and evaluation of asset and investment programs, including monitoring and evaluation metrics
Knowledge and proven application of general asset management processes and risk assessment techniques related to large scale natural asset management.
Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills
Professional leadership mind-set and behaviour
Proven relationship and partnership building, negotiation communication skills in investment programs
Maturity and judgement necessary to contribute to complex decision making
Ability to lead change and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
Knowledge of and expertise catchment management for water quality outcomes
Extensive coordination, prioritisation and time management skills
A medical assessment and VIC drivers licence is required
