Terminal Operator – Vopak Terminals Australia (Sydney)
Location: Port Botany – Sydney - Work Type: Full-Time / Rotating Shift Work
The Opportunity
Vopak is the world's leading independent tank storage company. We are looking for a disciplined, safety-first Terminal Operator to ensure the seamless movement and storage of vital products. This is a "hands-on" role where technical trade expertise meets high-level operational responsibility.
Your Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for candidates who bring a blend of formal trade training and "high-stakes" industrial experience.
Education & Trades:
Highly Desirable: Trade qualifications in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), Mechanical Fitter, or Process Operations Technician.
Certifications: Ability to maintain current JCP (Job Competence Profile) and stay ahead of online learning requirements.
Professional Experience:
Industry Background: Proven experience in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, or Shipping industries.
MHF Exposure: Previous experience working within a Major Hazard Facility (MHF) environment is a significant advantage.
Safety Mastery: Demonstrated ability to identify risks, halt unsafe acts, and use safety management systems (like Enablon).
Collaborative Mindset: A track record of thriving in a team-based, shift-work environment.
Core Responsibilities
Safety & Environment: Lead by example with visible safety leadership; manage Permits to Work (PTW) and ensure zero harm to the environment in line with OEMP.
Frontline Operations: Safe execution of truck loading/unloading, tank farm monitoring, and maintaining product quality specifications.
First-Line Maintenance: Troubleshooting equipment faults, performing shift-planned maintenance, and preparing assets for project work.
Customer Service: Liaising with surveyors and drivers to ensure accurate data transfer and timely service delivery.
