About the Role
As the HR Manager, you will be a key part of the leadership team, responsible for recruitment, retention, capability development, and strategic HR initiatives. This is a hands-on role requiring you to translate HR strategy into practical, everyday operations while fostering a positive and inclusive organisational culture. You will serve as the vital link between management and employees, offering expert guidance on HR policies, workforce planning, employee relations, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to support organisational effectiveness.
* Manage recruitment, selection, and onboarding of employees and volunteers.
* Provide expert HR advice, including on employee relations, grievances, and performance management.
* Support leadership with workforce planning, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
* Oversee compliance with industrial and award requirements.
* Manage Work Health & Safety (WHS) processes and WorkCover claims.
* Foster a positive workplace culture by leading engagement initiatives, training programs, and wellbeing initiatives.
* Maintain compliance with all legal and reporting requirements related to HR functions.
* Ensure confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
About You
You are a proactive and ethical HR leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You thrive in a role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on problem-solving. You thrive in dynamic environments, balancing strategic planning with day-to-day HR operations. Your ability to translate HR strategy into meaningful action makes you a trusted partner to both leadership and staff. You have a passion for creating a supportive and compliant work environment where employees feel valued and engaged.
Selection Criteria
* Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment legislation, best practices and the SCHADS award.
* Experience using HRIS to streamline processes and support workforce management
* Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.
* Proven ability to advise senior leaders on complex HR and industrial relations matters.
* Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* High level of discretion, ethics, and confidentiality in handling HR matters.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Understanding of employment laws and regulations
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and in partnership with the CEO and leadership team
* Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus
* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a HR role.
* High computer literacy in Windows, Microsoft Office, and HR database systems.
* A current Queensland driver's licence.
* Ability to obtain a National Police Check.
* Two professional references.

* Salary Range $97,000 to $101,000 based on skills and experience
* Salary packaging options to improve your take home pay – up to $18,500 can be packaged every year
* Leave loading of 17.5%

* A competitive salary range, in accordance with the SCHADS Award, with the final remuneration based on your experience, skills, and qualifications.
