Offer description

We are seeking to establish a pool of Teachers – Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Oberthur Primary School (PS), an Independent Public School, is in a quiet area of Bull Creek and has a traditionally strong community involvement. The school population of 650 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 has a mix of cultural backgrounds and English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) is a feature, particularly in the early years. The school is set in attractive surroundings with many trees, shade, and well- maintained gardens.

The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate educators, committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. Inclusivity and differentiation, and exemplary classroom teaching experience are important in ensuring the students achieve the best possible outcomes. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment are highly desirable.

As K-6 School Teachers, you should be prepared to participate in weekly meetings involving whole school and collaborative phase planning, curriculum development and professional learning opportunities, as well as regular Collaborative Year Level Team meetings. Oberthur PS expects high level teaching, learning and assessment processes developed through cooperative teams and practices, peer observation and feedback. Teachers, in year level teams, engage in scheduled meetings with members of the leadership team to continue to develop Western Australian Curriculum knowledge, implementation and moderation. Level 3 teachers are welcome to apply.

All classrooms are equipped with an Interactive Screen and common software. Students from Years 4 to 6 participate in a one-to-one MacBook program and students from Years 1 to 3 have a one-to-one iPad program. In addition, Kindergarten and Pre-Primary classrooms have a pod of iPads. Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills are an integral part of teaching practices across the school. All teaching staff are issued an iPad, which assists in the facilitation of collaborative meetings, as well as supporting planning and implementation of the learning program, assessment, and communication.

As well as an academic focus, Oberthur has an historically strong Chinese Language Program, including a Chinese Immersion (bilingual) Program in all Pre-Primary to Year 6, classes in addition to Music and Physical Education specialist areas. The school’s belief system is linked closely to the Principles of Teaching, Learning and Assessment. Pedagogy is strongly influenced by John Hattie’s ‘Visible Learning’, thinking skills (Solo Taxonomy, Bloom) and First Steps. Whole school practice includes a common lesson design structure, Literacy and Numeracy Blocks, explicit teaching, and moderating judgements through a collaborative focus on the Achievement Standards and content descriptions for each learning area. In addition to the Learning Area Operational Plans, we also have Project Plans in the areas of Science.
