About Our A&M Restructuring Group
From 2025, A&M Australia opened its Restructuring & Turnaround business offering and we now have a national team of highly skilled professionals situated throughout Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Perth. We currently have 5 Registered Liquidators leading our R&T team, supported by a sizable team of insolvency professionals.
The R&T business has a strong focus on compliance and risk mitigation. We have developed a comprehensive framework to underpin this crucial and necessary part of our business. Going forward, we now need the services of a highly skilled insolvency professional fill the role of National Technical Director.
Role & Responsibilities
This is a part-time (3 days/week), non-client facing role. You will be working alongside the Managing Directors and Registered Liquidators within the R&T team and reporting directly to the Australian Head of R&T. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Ensuring R&T's compliance tools, policies and procedures remain current with Australia's insolvency laws and practice
- Oversee and facilitate staff training to ensure continual professional development of the R&T team of insolvency practitioners
- Manage the team of treasury (bookkeeping) personnel who support the R&T accounting compliance function
Qualifications & Experience
You will be a professionally qualified accountant (CA or CPA) with more than 10 years' experience in restructuring with a strong focus on formal insolvent administrations. You will also be required to be a professional member of ARITA (Australian Restructuring, Insolvency & Turnaround Association).
Prior experience in a technical capacity with a firm of insolvency practitioners would be highly advantageous. Other necessary experience and skills include:
- Strong understanding of Australia's insolvency laws (both legislative and case law)
- Strong understanding of the applicable professional standards (APES) and ARITA's COPP
- Keen interest in the legal technical detail of Australia's complex insolvency laws
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to prepare and facilitate internal staff training events and other professional development resources (such as internal newsletters)
- Good organisational skills and an ability to manage a team of bookkeeping staff and develop their understanding of insolvency laws & practice
- A desire to work collaboratively and contribute to the team environment
- An ability to mentor and develop junior insolvency professionals (including graduates)
- Familiarity with Turnkey IPS software is advantageous.
