Tennant Consolidated Mining Group Pty Ltd (TCMG) is a gold resource company with an extensive exploration portfolio, including the Tennant Creek Goldfield. We are seeking an experienced full time Commercial Manager reporting directly to the General Manager, responsible for establishing and leading the commercial framework, processes, and strategies that ensure the mining start-up's financial sustainability, contractual compliance, and commercial performance.
The role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a close-knit community in the heart of the Australian Outback based in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory and will be on a 15/13 roster. Responsibilities and Duties
The Commercial Manager will build the commercial function from the ground up, supporting early-stage project development of construction projects, operations and helping guide the procurement strategy. Key responsibilities include developing commercial policies and systems, negotiating major contracts, managing financial and business analyses, and ensuring that all commercial activities align with corporate goals, legal obligations, and stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review, develop and implement the organisation's commercial strategy, policies, and governance frameworks.
* Lead commercial negotiations for major supply, service, off-take, construction, and vendor contracts.
* Oversee contract management systems, ensuring compliance, performance tracking, and cost control.
* Conduct financial modelling, market analysis, cost–benefit analyses, and economic evaluations to support investment decisions.
* Manage procurement strategy, tender processes, bid evaluations, and vendor performance.
* Identify, assess, and manage commercial, financial, and contractual risks across the project lifecycle.
* Support funding and investment initiatives, providing commercial input to due diligence efforts.
* Partner with technical, operations, project, and executive teams to ensure integrated commercial decision-making.
* Establish clear reporting mechanisms on commercial performance, risks, and opportunities.
* Ensure commercial activities align with ethical standards, legal compliance, and organisational policies.
Qualifications
Preferred
* Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Finance, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline (essential).
* Post-graduate qualifications (MBA, Master of Finance, or similar) desirable.
Desirable
* Relevant industry, contracting, or procurement certifications advantageous.
* Ability to meet site-specific safety and compliance requirements (e.g., mining induction, working at heights) if applicable.
Experience, Skills and Personable Attributes
* Demonstrated experience (typically 8+ years) in commercial management within mining, resources, or major capital projects.
* Proven ability to negotiate, manage, and administer high-value, complex contracts.
* Strong financial and commercial analysis capabilities, including financial modelling and risk assessment.
* Experience establishing commercial systems, policies, and processes in growing or start-up environments (highly regarded).
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
* Strong understanding of procurement, supply chain, and contract governance best practice.
* Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
