Join a national firm's respected family law team as Special Counsel.
Based on the Gold Coast, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and expand the firm's family law presence in Queensland, backed by a strong, collaborative national support network.
You'll guide clients through significant personal and financial life changes, working on everything from complex financial agreements to sensitive parenting matters. This role provides broad exposure to all areas of family law within a supportive, high-performing team.
With dedicated support from graduates, interns, and paralegals, you'll focus on delivering strategic legal advice and strong client advocacy. The firm is committed to your growth, offering clear pathways for career advancement.
What You'll Be Doing
Advising on separation, divorce, and de facto relationships
Negotiating and drafting binding financial agreements, including pre- and post-nuptial agreements
Handling complex property settlements involving businesses, companies, and trusts
Representing clients in parenting disputes, custody, residency, and child support matters
Managing spouse maintenance, same-sex relationship issues, and property disputes
Preparing matters for mediation and court, including briefing counsel on high-value cases
About You
Minimum 10 years PAE in family law with proven experience across both property and parenting matters
Practical and commercially minded with excellent technical skills
Skilled at managing complex client relationships with empathy and professionalism
Experienced in mentoring junior lawyers and fostering a positive team culture
No expectation to bring a portable practice - your success will come from your expertise and outcomes
Autonomy and flexibility, including up to two days remote per week
