Job Overview
We are seeking a professional to support conservation initiatives and develop nature-based businesses with Indigenous communities in northern Cape York.
* Liaise with community members, Traditional Custodians, and conservation teams to align workplans and desired outcomes.
* Develop capacity in governance and leadership to support the ambitions of Traditional Custodians.
* Spearhead the development of Indigenous-led nature-based businesses, including sustainable crocodile egg harvesting and essential oil production.
Key Responsibilities:
* Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with local communities, Traditional Custodians, and conservation stakeholders.
* Nature-Based Business Development: Develop and implement strategies for sustainable nature-based businesses, including sustainable crocodile egg harvesting and essential oil production.
* Governance and Leadership: Provide capacity-building programs to support the governance and leadership needs of Traditional Custodians.
Requirements:
* Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a related field.
* Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and knowledge systems.
* Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, Traditional Custodians, and conservation teams.
