The School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW is seeking a highly qualified Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join their team. Job Description
This role involves conducting high-quality research, teaching statistics, data science, and financial mathematics courses, and contributing to the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong commitment to proactively keeping up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments, as well as experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct high-quality research in statistics, data science, or financial mathematics that aligns with the research strengths in the School.
* Teach statistics, data science, and financial mathematics courses to a range of audiences at the University.
* Design and develop learning activities and resources, and provide assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
* Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics.
* Support learning progression with students as individuals and as a cohort to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* A PhD or equivalent qualification in statistics, data science, financial mathematics, or relevant mathematical sciences.
* Demonstrated research ability in Mathematics or Statistics, which aligns with the research directions in the School.
* Expertise in spatial statistics and related areas (desirable).
* Proven commitment to proactively keeping up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
