About the Role We're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Climate Adaptation Officer to join our Environmental Sustainability team. This role leads the Department of Education's work to adapt and build resilience to climate change. This is an ongoing full-time opportunity, but applications for part-time or job-share arrangements will also be considered. About the role The Senior Climate Adaptation Officer: * coordinates the development, planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting of five-yearly Education and Training System Climate Change Adaptation Action Plans. * works closely with corporate staff across the department to develop and deliver evidence-based policies, strategies and actions to adapt and build resilience to climate change. * provides technical expertise in climate adaptation and build the capacity of staff to embed sustainability in their work. * coordinates with other government departments, external consultants and researchers to share skills, deliver a partnership project and support the department to meet its obligations to consider climate change in decision-making. About you As our ideal candidate, you will: * have professional experience in developing and delivering policies, programs and projects related to climate adaptation * have a relevant tertiary qualification in a field related to environmental sustainability or disaster preparedness * enjoy collaborating with others and have excellent stakeholder and interpersonal skills * demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration.
